LOS GATOS, Calif., Aug. 30, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Tide scale, the company leading the Software-Defined Server revolution, today announced updates to its fourth-generation Software-Defined Server technology to help organizations with mission-critical applications run more reliably and minimize system downtime. The new advanced features of TidalScale 4.1 dramatically improve overall system reliability, availability and ease of maintenance to reduce server failures by 100x, effectively adding two 9s to system uptime, enabling 99.999% uptime. The company also announced that it is now live and available on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace.
“The cost of server downtime, planned or unplanned, has never been higher. Enterprise customers are experiencing server hardware failures at an unprecedented rate, often resulting in significant financial losses to their businesses,” said Gary Smerdon, President & CEO, TidalScale. “With the introduction of TidalScale 4.1, our customers can now detect and prevent impending failures through our ‘self-healing’ system that automatically hot swaps and replaces the failing server. This is achieved without human intervention – true lights out operation.”
The latest release of TidalScale’s technology also offers the benefit of serverwear leveling and preventative health checks. Server wear leveling prioritizes server deployment based on which systems have the longest estimated lifespan. Preventive Health Check alerts system administrators when a system needs to be taken offline to perform a thorough health check. This is not possible while a server is running applications. These new features are now available with no downtime based on TidalGuard capabilities.
“As IT becomes increasingly important to business operations, companies are struggling to meet growing availability demands and the increasing need for affordable processing power,” said independent analyst Tim Stammers. “TidalScale’s combination of virtualization and machine learning technology now promises dramatic improvements in availability, as well as a way to create highly scalable processing resources from low-cost off-the-shelf hardware, making their software-defined server technology even more important.”
As recently highlighted in The New York Times, computer servers face increasing hardware failures. Uncorrectable memory failures are now 100 times more likely than a decade ago. Other sources of errors include those related to power and fans, networking, and storage. This downward trend in server reliability is a surprising reality that threatens infrastructure at the grassroots level. This is all accomplished using industry standard computers and networks with standard operating systems and applications.

About TidalScale, Inc.
TidalScale is the industry leader in software-defined server technology. TidalScale’s software solution “glues” commodity servers together so that they function as one larger system. The software accomplishes this by aggregating the CPU cores, memory, and I/O of multiple physical servers, virtualizing these resources, and then presenting them to the operating system as a unified “software-defined server”. TidalScale requires no changes to applications or operating systems and is up and running in minutes – on premise or in the cloud. TidalScale has been recognized in: Gartner Cool Vendors, CIO Review’s Most Promising SAP and Oracle Solution Providers, CRN’s Top 50 Software-Defined Data Center Leaders, Red Herring’s Global Top 100, IDC Innovators, and more. TidalScale is privately owned with backing from Bain Capital, Aspenwood Ventures, Sapphire Ventures, Infosys, SK Hynix, Citrix and Samsung. More information at: http://www.tidalscale.com.
