The Advisory Board will provide advice and industry knowledge gained through years of experience in their respective fields. The Board will provide an unbiased perspective to the MUSC Health Solutions team to evaluate the sustainability, profitability and potential success of a solution or opportunity. The council will also propose opportunities for MUSC Health Solutions to pursue as needed.
The councilors have backgrounds in various sectors: finance, agriculture, economics, healthcare, retail, computer and information exchange, hospitality, distribution, data science, telecommunications, digital health, biotechnology, construction, public relations, etc.
Zucker Institute for Innovation Commercialization
How do we work together?: The MUSC Foundation for Research Development (FRD) and the Zucker Institute for Applied Neurosciences (ZIAN) joined forces to become the Zucker Institute for Innovation Commercialization. Many solutions involve the disclosure of intellectual property. This institute supports our efforts so that the creators of our solutions, be it technology, workflow or know-how, are recognized and rewarded for their work and provide MUSC Health Solutions with certain opportunities that need extra support – helping to fill the portfolio .
Biomedical Informatics Center (BMIC)
How do we work together?: When new technologies need to be tested in a clinical setting, we often look to BMIC to support infrastructure construction in sandbox research environments. This group is equipped with strong technicians and developers who support the pilots of MUSC Health Solution.
Office of External Relations
How do we work together?: Health Solutions often provides opportunities for the organization that result in mutually beneficial partnerships, which we facilitate and help set up together with External Affairs.
Office for Innovation
How do we work together?: We work with the Office of Innovation to identify pain points across the organization and find solutions for them. Whether an idea is fully developed or at the beginning of its lifecycle, the Office of Innovation engages us when our expertise can help accelerate the development and delivery of a solution.
How do we work together?: Many solutions produced by MUSC Health Solutions require input, feedback or support from the Office of Telehealth. They are always willing to explore new ideas and opportunities to deliver and co-develop innovative services to patients and customers.
Office of General Counsel
How do we work together?: All solutions require some level of involvement from the Office of General Counsel. The legal team provides expert knowledge in relationship building, reviewing and recommending relevant legal documentation and risk management.
How do we work together?: Solutions has an assigned Business Relationship Manager (BRM) who acts as a liaison between our team and IT team to understand the IT increase and resource requirements for solutions coming through our pipeline. Our partnership enables clear communication to ensure efforts are aligned and solutions are not duplicated in our healthcare system’s application archive. MUSC Health Solutions is able to optimize products/services across the entire health system ecosystem and Information Solutions seeks the required technology support to drive business forward.
How do we work together?: Working with MUSC’s IS security team, MUSC Health Solutions acts as a liaison between them and the security teams of third-party vendors. By doing this, we are able to properly manage risk by vetting and assessing all the solutions, vendors and services we plan to implement or work with. We adhere to strict protocols and requirements from MUSC’s IS security team, who we take very seriously to protect all proprietary data and maintain the integrity of our systems.
Marketing & Branding
How do we work together?: Spin companies and new services require a lot of support from the marketing department, whether it’s setting up campaigns or branding names. They are highly qualified, have access to excellent marketing tools and have a network of resources to ensure we communicate and message the right audience in the most effective, efficient and convenient way!
