CLEVELAND, Ohio — Former Texas Basketball star and current Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen has been appointed by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to replace injured Philadelphia 76ers guard James Harden for Team LeBron in the 2022 NBA All-Star Game. the first NBA All-Star roster for Allen, who along with Slater Martin, Kevin Durant and LaMarcus Aldridge will become the fourth former Longhorn to be selected to the NBA All-Star Game.
The 71st NBA All-Star Game will be played on Sunday, February 20 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, home of the Cavaliers. The matchup between Team Durant and Team LeBron will be broadcast live on TNT and ESPN Radio at 7:00 PM.
Allen, who is in his fifth NBA season after a year in Texas (2016-17), played in 49 games (all starts) for the Cavaliers this year. He achieves average career highs in points (16.2 ppg), rebounds (11.1 rpg), assists (1.8 apg), steals (0.76 ppg), and minutes (32.6 mpg). Allen has the second-highest field goal percentage in the NBA (0.665), which is on track to become the best single-season shooting mark in Cleveland franchise history (min. 100 attempts).
Allen is in the NBA’s top 15 in rebounds (ninth), blocks (13th, 1.35 bps) and double-doubles (tie sixth, 30). He is one of only four NBA players to average a minimum of 15.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game this year, along with NBA All-Stars Rudy Gobert, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid.
Allen will also compete in the Taco Bell Skills Challenge on State Farm All-Star Saturday night on Feb. 19.
